Shattered Glass

Relationships, a name. A tie. A bond. Unshaken. Unbroken. Yet vulnerable. Why? Why do we lay ourselves out in complete trust for a relationship? For someone we just met or someone we ‘knew in elementary school’. And what’s the advantage? After all, a relationship is a tie right? Tied down. Never to talk to the opposite sex again. Right? Wrong. We lay trust because trust is a foundation. Without a trusting foundation, every relationship would be built on glass. Nothing more than a centimeter thick window pane waiting for the weight of the expectations to break it. And so what if someone breaks our trust? It shows us who they really were and what their true intentions with us were. Helping us out. Pain. Heartbreak. All 100% worth it because it lets you see the side of people that they only show themselves in the mirror. The self reflection of greed and selfishness. The self reflection of high self esteem and given outcomes to expectations. What words did you take away from the past two sentences? Oh that’s right, self. You realize that their window pane was thinner than the pain you feel. But you accept it because you saved yourself from shattered glass.
