SHE

When she was low
She was
Ceased
She was not herself
Wished to be somebody else
Anybody else
For all were better than
She
She held everyone in great esteem
And the higher she viewed them
The lower she viewed herself
Because all were more than
She
When she was high
She shone
Perfect brilliant beautiful
Dazzling all around
Holding court over those
Prostrate on the ground
She was
Better
More
She had no wish to be anyone else
Could not envisage being
Somebody else
Of being anyone other than
She
But in quiet moments
When the balance was right
She cried in her soul
Despising the fight
The battle that raged
Deep down inside
Tearing her limbs
Ripping her hide
Drowning in her own raging tides
For in the quiet moments
When the balance was right
She longed for release
From her daily plight
Longed to exist in calmer seas
Longed for peace
Tranquility
Longed to be free
Of she.

Marion,
Another terrific piece. You are really a great writer.
Your poems are brief on words in their lines, but so effective. How do you do that? I write a novel on each line, so there's no intrigue, or ambiguity, or mystery as to what I'm writing. I like your style.
Great, sad piece.
Loved it!
Matthew.
Mathew, your work is wonderful...isn't poetry meant to be descriptive, meant to engage the five senses?....I can't do that....lol...that's why mine turns out the way it does, because I'm not capable of producing the romantic, descriptive work that you and so many others on here excell at.
Dont doubt yourself Mathew, glory in your own amazing talent instead. Thankyou as always for your kind comments ?
Thank you so much, Marion, you're such a nice person, and so talented.
I really appreciate all of your kindness.
Matthew.
