Poem -

She

She

She smoked a cigarette
Through her bright red lips
She didn’t even fret
She’d finally come to grips
That this, this cigarette was no threat

The only things that were a threat
Were the voices in her head
Saying she had to change her silhouette
As she laid and cried in her bed
She tried oh so very hard to forget

The thoughts and voices were pounding on her skull
She just wanted them to fade
But the thoughts and voices were like a screeching gull
She felt as though she’d been betrayed
This feeling brought on a feeling of being numb and dull

Her life was turning grey
She could no longer find the happiness
She felt herself slipping away
There was a moment of pure calmness
With her last breath she called for that moment to stay
