SHE HAD TO BE THERE

Four o'clock this afternoon she had to be there
No announcement made yet but she didn't careĀ
For she knew deep down in her caring heart
Major worldwide news would very soon startĀ

Flowers clutched so tightly to her shaky hand
It was certainly not how her day was planned
She began the short walk from the tube stationĀ
Buckingham Palace gates was her destinationĀ

The flowers left it was now just past fourĀ
In a few hours she knew they'd be many more
She was the first to leave flowers for the Queen
The nation's grief so rarely witnessed and seenĀ
