Poem -

She sighs

She sighs

She sighs when she thinks of him
And then she sighs because she’s thinking of him again
She sighs
She sighs
She sighs at the loss of his lips
She sighs at the loss of his laughs
The loss of bruises
The loss of thrown off the bed
The loss of intimacy. Oh the loss of intimacy
She sighs at the loss of his love of course
The loss of ocean walks
Secret places only he knows
The loss of songs
From his heart
And she sighs again
The loss of her man’s hands

Being Me

Hi Gilly who! I read your poem and, I must say, the darkness that runs through this makes it special.

These words:

The loss of bruises

The loss of thrown off the bed

Make this a bitter sweet poem on the loss of a love. For anyone failing to understand how someone could ever love such a person, I think this poem tells them. If there was no 'love' involved for the abused then these relationships would never get to the stage of becoming abusive. The split would've happened or they would never have got together in the first place. I applaud you for writing this. And I am sorry you are suffering heartache... But proud you have managed to escape the abuse. I think this is worthy of 5 stars x
