She was Beautiful
She was beautiful.
Battered and bruised,
But beautiful still.
Standing tall like a willow tree;
Bending in the wind but unbreakable,
No matter what life threw at her.
They tried to break her;
Shatter her self esteem,
Tear down her self image,
Break down her confidence.
But nothing they did worked,
Or so they thought.
For on the outside she appeared as hard as a rock,
Stoic and untouched by their harsh words;
But on the inside she was heartbroken.
Their intense mockery and ridicule shattering against her skin like knives.
But she was beautiful!
She couldn’t see that.
Why?
Why couldn’t she see?
Through all their intense teasing and derision she couldn’t see how beautiful she was.
She was a rose, blooming in the spring.
The prettiest flower of them all, even if she blossomed the latest.
But because of them, she was blind to it all.
She was beautiful but she was broken.
And that’s all there is to it.

Thank you Val! That was what I was hoping to do. Bullying is something that a lot of people just push aside and don't look at the bigger issue and how it affects others. Someone may appear happy and bright on the outside but on the inside their light might be dying out.
