She's Got The Big "C!"

They told her today that she'd got the big "C",
She's not very old, she's much younger than me.
She wanted to do so many things, -
See Petra, the Grand Canyon and maybe the Sphinx.
Now she's not going to go anywhere,
Her world's in a turmoil and she's in despair.
She doesn't know how she's going to copeÂ
When statistics tell her there isn't much hope.
She sits down with a biscuit and cup of tea
And thinks, "Why did this have to happen to me?"
A few salty tears roll down her face,
She's in a quandary, in a very dark place.
She makes up her mind that she'll fight all the way, -
She'll fight and she'll fight, day after day.
Her body is tired and racked with pain
So she reaches for painkillers yet again.
If only she'd gone to the doctors before
But she just couldn't get through that surgery door.
They told her today that the cancer had won,
She knows she is dying and her hope is all gone.

I agree with Georgina, a sad yet beautifully written poem. My heart and soul feels for this woman. Cancer steals away so many lives, it's even more heartbreaking when it's the life of someone who has barely had the chance to truly live.Â
All your writes are so raw and filled with emotion. I am so happy you joined us here!Â

This is a very vulnerable piece that reminds us of the importance to have regular check-ups. Â Thank you for exposing your heart on this one for the rest of us to be impacted by it. Â Great job!
