Shiny Thing Syndrome

Shiny Thing Syndrome

hard to stay focused
when everything I see
is a glass half full
of glitter divine

magic rapturous
gnosis curious
infatuation ravenous

i fear i love life
far too much
i fear i'll crash
the glass to smash

then all of my
naive delight
will transform into
a starless night

i'll hate it when that
happens if it does
they always warned
i wear kit gloves

yet i never seem to learn
and in the flames of love
don layers and layers of burn
flying ever ever higher

a pitiful wind-charred dove
