Ship Ashore

Ship Ashore

Checking the time

The cold runs through me

Shouting my lines

I’m in my own movie

Hollowed out eyes

Just about proves the

Absence of truth

No longer yours truly

I duck and I dive

Can’t control movement

Spiralling cries

No hope of improvement

Listen to me!

I list

Find the lamppost

Spirit is dead

Become my own

Ghost host

I see you recoil

Please stay

And translateĀ

The bark and the bite

And try and create

Some sense for us both

From this mess of sound

Try and decipher

Those lost and who found

The key to my Id

And threw it away

Leaving me foundered

Beached on feet of clay

Trying to find

My way back to shore

Fight tides of indifference

And cold concrete floor

Look right into me

And understand this

Life is a knife edge

A razor sharp precipice

Offer a hand

Or an ear, or a smile

To those who fell down

Cast out without trial

Repair broken spirit

Bit by tiny bit

And remember that IĀ

Once sat where you sit

I can’t say for sure

That I’ll ever mend

But without your good will

My nightmare won’t end.

The feeling of escape from the situation, is what my thoughts bring as I read this, and it's always nice to have a helping hand!!Ā

HiĀ Lorna,

Thank you for reading! Yes, IĀ was trying to convey a sense of everyone being just a couple of degrees away from both a positive or negative situation and really to make the reader understand that change doesn't have to be wholesale, it can be incremental and achieved by just doing simple positive things.
