Spiders Lament

Spider spider go away
You're still around
From yesterday
Hanging there
Above my bed
Are you asleep?
Or are you dead?
Do you plan
To catch some flies?
Or wait for me
To close my eyes?
Before you pounce
Land on my nose
Run down my face
Hide in my bed-clothes
Frighten me
When least expected?
Waiting until
I'm least protected?
Spider, spider go away
I really don't
Want you to stay
Little girl,
Just lying there,
I wish you knew
How much I care
I dangle here
Day and night
In the dark
In the light
Watching over
You sleep sound
Until the morn
When you come round
I try to smile
Or give a wave
Desperate for you
To just be brave
Glance up at me
And smile back!
Instead, you scream
Your Dad comes; Whack.

Hi Holloway Cute write was fun to read
Poor spider though I like spiders :-)
This would be great to read to children afraid of spiders
as you say the spider just wants to say hi.Could make them less scared
Enjoyed !Welcome to Cosmo
Best wishes Debs
Hi Debs,
Thanks for the read, the praise and the welcome! That is exactly its intention, also to give the grown up a bit of a laugh at the end. I like spiders too, they beat flies hands (and feet) down! This is my first poem on here, and the first I have written in about 30 years, i'll keep on keepin' on.

I thoroughly enjoyed your poem. Thank you for sharing:)
Hi Tracey,
Thank you for the feedback! Quite honestly I was a little nervous about putting things out there, so comments like this really go a long way.
