Show me some weakness

Sometimes it seems people want you to reveal some weakness
To settle their own insecurities

Show me some weakness, you look so strong
Surely you must have a weakness, some pain, some flaw
I feel rigid, tight like a coil, waiting for information
Please reveal something, show me through a door

A door I can briefly spring through
I want to see for myself
Is your weakness in your confidence,
Your relationships? Your health?

Just say something like “I feel so low sometimes”
“Things aren’t great at home”, “I can’t pay some fees”
Something, anything, that gives me some comfort
And, even if only briefly, settle my own insecurities

I’ll repay you with some words of support
Tell you not to worry and that it’s ok
Some of it may well be genuine
The rest an act, a farce, a play

Just show me some weakness
And you’ll see me vaguely smile
Please, show me some weakness
Once in a while.
