Sidewalk Philosophy

Noe, the sidewalk philosopher

Had all the answers that it took.

But I had a strange suspicion

He had never read a book.

And when you say you don't know me

It's because you never tried.

And all our expectations

Just shriveled up and died.

Right now I'm so confused,

I don't know right from wrong.

My values are corrupted

I don't know where to turn.

And you say I have no problems

Nothing to weigh my mind,

But if you tried to know me

You'd be shocked at what you'd find.

And I know I'll never change you

So, I won't try anymore

But, the next time that you call me

I'll not be there like before.

And if all you ever told me

Wasn't clouded up in lies,

Then you won't mind talking to me

And not averting your eyes.

This is not high school dancing 

And you're not a beauty queen.

The play's already ended

And we never learned a scene
