Silent Night

The storm has left beyond the hills The guns they too are gone
The day lays down the fires burn on The trees stand still in awe
A child so small upon the road She moves so slow so all alone
Bare feet upon the stones so cold Her face is tired and worn
No tears but fear show from her eyes Inside a heart confused
And on and on she straggles on Must find her only friend
The screams they have no words for her The dead they just stare back
And at the end of every road She turns to look again
And on and on her feet move on through halls and corridors
At last against a broken wall She finds her mother there
It's now a tear breaks from her eye A smile so insecure
"My child don't cry we'll be just fine Just as we have before"
But God why must the truth be so Those words could not be said
And so the scene is set this night Beneath a star so bright
A town a road a child so small Who curls beside her friend
And on and on the fires burn on It seems they always will
And on and on a song plays on From where the storm can't reach
"Silent night holy night All is calm all is bright..."
