THE SIMPLER TIMES

Gone are the days, of simpler times, when a love letter was written instead of a text....
and at the end stated "do you wanna go out" please circle no or cirlcle yes.....
that letter was folded with care and gently sprayed with a sweet cologne or perfume...
then handed across the class from hand to hand, till it circled the entire room.....
when a man showed up with flowers and candy, and strict guidance to be home by 8....
when u were grilled for an hour by the parents, while she got dressed yelling out "baby we're going to be late".....
when the street lights came on, there was a mad dash by every kid in the nighborhood....
to get into the house before mom came out, with that belt or that switch or the broom....
when the drive in theatre was the hang out spot, cuddling in the front seat while glued to the big screen.....
you and your hunny, popcorn and cuddling, was the highlight how peaceful, how serene.....
when the ice cream shop, and the Sadie Hawkins dance, were the reason kids were off the streets....
when you could go to bed at night, with the front door unlocked, and when you pulled down the visor, there were the keys.....
no video games, no internet, no wi-fi or apple anything.....
unless of course, you were trying to find some source, of shade under the apple tree.....
back then an instant message was when your parents gave you that look, when you knew you were doing something wrong.....
and the girls hearts would melt, when they heard the very first tune, on the radio of their favorite song......
kids would play outdoors in the front yard all day long, and everybody knew your name.....
when hide and go seek, and double dutch, and hop scotch were the popular game.....
a time when computers had no impact on life, and downloading was not even capable....
a time when sunday dinners involved at least 3 generation all sitting side by side at the huge dinner table....
when the big game was watched in front of a small television, it was square, and often sat on top of a floor model that was broken....
when life's lessons were learned from the elder of the family everyone listened to every single word that was spoken....
when walks were popular, and talks were long......
when no one had even thought about inventing the thong.....
the simpler times, when life was sweet.....
Oh how I miss those simpler times
