Simply Prodigal

Simply Prodigal

* a poetic and different take on the classic story of the prodigal son

I cautiously step down off the steps, that cannot be him, is he filled with regret?
I feel so frustrated in anger my face is already set.
then I hear his voice so strong yet still quiet
with a few simple words, my heart is in a riot
'love him my son' I hear gods voice say
and just like that, it all melts away
If God, our great father can love the entire population
Can I not love my son when he loves the nations?
He is coming closer almost here and I can see his regret and sadness from where I am
So I follow Gods example that he has done so many times already
I give grace to the boy because God made my heart ready
