The Princess I Used To Be

The Princess I Used To Be

I used to prick my finger on spinning wheels
but now I prick my heart on peoples sharp words
I used to close my eyes and dream of a kiss
but now I close my eyes and wish for an end
I used to dance with a  stranger
but now I watch them fearing the worst
I used to view the world with a lust for adventure
but now I view the world with a need for survival
I used to be a kings daughter
but now I'm just a girl on her own
I used to be enchanted with everything around me
but now as I have seen the broken truth I cower in fear
I used to be a girl but I small light in this dark world
but now my light is fading as I blend into the crowd
I used to live my life as a movie everything a perfect coincidence
but now my life is a reality every success is purchased with blood, sweat, and tears

* I know this was a little bit of a downer but I just thought of the first line and liked the idea so I ran with it, I also was trying to make a poem that doesn't rhyme for once to challenge myself a little bit, let me know what you think, I love constructive critisicm thanks so much!

This is very nicely knitted. You did a very good work. A poem must be expressive. You painted a very good picture in your work. I could see myself in the shoes of the persona. Weldone...........but was there a need to kind of apologize for your work? It's ok if a poem is a downer. Poems tell different stories. You told the story per the inspiration. Great Work.
