Tussle with egyptian thread
Be still this noble body
Before shutting down
The over processing head.
Take position upon your rock
Whatever weighty world know
Ship anchored, now in dock
Give to sleep, let it go.
Knead those limbs into stone
Coarse the shale for comfort
Enter careless dreamscape
Flat back upon a pillow throne.
The pampered act of necessity
Reality, fantasy verse blend
Doing this becomes priority
When, a third of life we spend.
Close the eyes meet your mender,
We all give up and surrender.

This is friggin' brilliant!!...... the painted necessity of surrender...... in those Egyptian cotton sheets....... the necessity of sleep becomes a welcome thing the more we know about it...... who wants to hallucinate and hear voices we can't comprehend when lack of REM-time comes into play?.......I LOVE the fantastic images created by your "most creative" wordplay!!....... the title is just another addition to my reason for labeling this piece as brilliant....... EVERYTHING about this works as pieces spinning in greased grooves!!.......PINNED!!......stunning write .....complimented by the perfect picture!!....... hate to stop here....but.....I gotta catch some zzzzzzzzz's!!.......smokin' grooves DEVON!!......smokin' ass grooves!!......LOVE and ROCKETS!!......T xo ?ââ´âłâĽ
Thank you thank you my dear friend Tony. I couldn't get the wheels to stop turning last night as I lay a comfortable stone and begged for the only welcoming surrender as most do......sleep. I am so appreciative of what you see in my writes brother. Virginia beach was beautiful, but the time was short and I was so close, but there's always another time. Love and peace.
beautiful beat, tone, and a blissful construction, Devon, so glad I found this....I've been experimenting with the sonnet lately and you seem to have 'gotten it' no doubt, love the language you use as well, it is a joy to read fresh interesting poetry and doesn't seem ironic that the Shakespearean sonnet becomes so fresh again, but in the hands of an excellent poet, this is bloody marvelous my friend...cheers poet, peace and love to you and yours
Hey Chris, long time man....how the heck are you. Thanks man! I really don't know what made me go to a freestyle sonnet form but it just felt right. Great to hear from you brother hope all is well, love and peace to you and yours.Â
My Dear Brother Poet Devon,
I give myself to slumber, it takes one third of me;
If only I could halve that, much more life I would then see!
These dreamscapes are all fantasy, I quest for only the real thing;
To awaken my creativity, and happiness the world to bring!
Peace and Love,

Well Larry....without sleep we could not create such amazing words of art. Oh, and me and the family went down and I say down as in south of me to Williamsburg Virginia to Busch Gardens for the week.....a beautiful theme park we all enjoyed. From there we headed to Virginia beach and stayed for a few hours, a little fun in the sun then did a five and a half hour trip back up north home. I would have loved to meet up with Tony and Cherie they live in North Carolina and I wasn't too far but time did not have that in store....so some other time. Good vacation and now it's back to work, work, work. Thanks for the poetic comment my friend and fellow poet. Peace.
Hi Devon,
My wife Linda has been to Williamsburg a few times, and thoroughly enjoyed it. Â Of course, we also have a Busch Gardens outside of Tampa, which I have been to. Â Too bad you didn't get to see Cherie and Tony, something which we are planning on doing sometime too. Â Glad you had a nice vacation. Â It's always tough to come home from La La Land.
Peace and Love,
Larry xxx
