SITTING IN HER ROCKING CHAIR

Memories and photographs only remain
Something to cherish as it starts to rain
She sits in her rocking chair and cries each day
Thinking of that war that took her son away

He was only just a boy not even a man
Seventeen is no age to fight in Vietnam
A needless war it has to be said
The lady wonders why and shakes her head

Her son and her life ruined by a killer's gun
He has missed out on having so much fun
The rocking chair still rocks and days go on
As she remembers the brave soldiers now dead and gone
