Flower Shop Connection

 Flower Shop Connection

There was an old woman who owned a flower shop in a small village.

The woman had a unique heritage.

She came from a long line of fortune telling gypsies that predicted many great loves and tragedies.

Many villagers came to her seeking answers for their personal affairs.

She didn’t look into a crystal ball or read tea leaves but she knew the meanings of the flowers, plants and trees.

A young woman came to her shop and she wanted to know if her love for a married man would ever stop.

The old woman gave her a yellow chrysanthemum and told her to sit under a birch tree to await for her true love and that he would arrive with the cooing of a dove.

The young woman did what she was told but no one came young or old.

She went back to the old woman and told her that her life was in ruin.

The old woman smiled and put another yellow chrysanthemum in her hand and said you must go back and sit again.

The young woman went back and sat under the birch tree and sobbed silently.

Once again no one came and her heart was still filled with pain.

She went back to the old woman and sought her advice again and she told her how much pain her heart was in.

The old woman gave her another yellow chrysanthemum and told her to sit under the birch tree again and that with patients her heart would mend.

The young woman went back with hope in her heart that life would give her a new start.

A young man came to her and said; “I see you have been slighted in love and desire a new beginning, and I came to the sound of a dove cooing."

"How did you know of my heartache and desire?",she inquired.

The young man held out three yellow chrysanthemums and said, “The old woman at the flower shop gave me all three of them.”

Fun facts;

The yellow chrysanthemum symbolizes slighted love

and

The Birch tree symbolizes  new beginnings and cleansing of the past.
