Smoke rings in the dark

Strong tobacco engulfs the air as they blow smoke rings in the dark
Whilst one lights up another cigarette using his lighter, with a flicker and a spark
And a cloak of choking cloudiness saturates the snug room
Adding to the humdrum ambience, amidst the wraths of winter’s gloom
Retired, old chaps sitting blaspheming  in a local bar
Most of them were dropped off with their better halves driving their car
Just living around the corner, so the walk home isn’t very far
As they chatter loudly about bygone times, above the strumming of a guitar
And these geriatric characters meet up here almost every night
Where the stale stench of nicotine rises in ripples up a height
All huddled up together amidst the hazy candle light
Lots of glassy-eyed Grandads shining through the darkness within a boozy plight..
