"Soapbox" By Ben Goode 2011 (c)

"Soapbox" By Ben Goode 2011 (c)

A broken soapbox, ankle falling through,

No one really listening.

Nothing he can do.

Shout to get a look. Noise lost in the crowds.

Not famous enough to turn heads.

Only in the violence of his frustration.

He throws his soapbox to the wall.

He’s gone.

Nobody notices until his absence speaks its space.

Shock and awe. Revelation anew.

Self absorption in an aged revolution.

Cast aside the soapbox. The fire no longer burns.

A generation of deaf and ignorant.

Movements are for the old.
