social class

social class

I lived in
an incubator

a baby
weak
from entering
the earth to
early

Protector
From the swine
around me

I heard their grunts
and snickers
throughout my life

I heard them
at your funeral
they acknowledged
me with pity

I think they
don't realize
who sits
at the throne

who is the peasant
and
who is the upper class

maybe not me
but certainly
not them

I made a name
earned multiple degrees
created a great reputation

One day
it won't matter
acceptance by family

Going back to my
kingdom now
the past has
too many demons.

Sadly .. at least as far as I am concerned, this has more going for it than one might otherwise imagine at first glance ..
It is only when with a more probing eye that the true meatiness of it is glimpsed ..
Tis indeed ragged and real prose, founded firmly on the less than stable foundations of a quite possibly dysfunctional family ..  Yes sir muchly enjoyed .. Neville
