The Socialite

I watch her standing there

With black on her eyes and jewels in

her hair.

I watch her laughing there

With bleach on her teeth and blush on
her face.

She’s constantly surrounded,

Personality so rounded.

Her friends smile with red lips.

They greet and then they peck.

She smiles back with a golden noose
around her neck.

I watch her being there

Knowing that her secrets are her
friend’s to share.

I watch her lying there

With wet eyes and a dry smile.

Who is she now?

Does she even know?

Should she furrow her brow

Just for show?

I watch her crying there

With running mascara and nothing to
wear.

I watch her seeing there

With no friends, no one to care.

She wakes up with makeup on.

She’s always oh so pretty.

The party’s over and anyone’s gone

But, at least she’s pretty.

Always pretty.
