Society's Dompas: Material Armor

I shape my eyebrows, I tan my legs, I do all this for your acceptance I beg. I tuck my anxietyΒ deep in the seams of my dress but its real pretty with sparkles and gems, i hope to impress.Β

I wake up in the morning and wash originality off my face, not to worry, foundation,Β eye pencil and lipstick will soon help me find my place.

Upright I will sit, carefully agreeing to every popular point as the creases of unhappiness in myΒ blouse start to show, I need be careful as I walk in my platform heels, the lump of deception I hid earlier might show.

Finally making my way to the bathroom, I meet up with a mirror reflection of a familiar stranger. Terrible habitΒ of society, why do we accept false perceptions when it is truly belonging that we yearn?

I wake up in the morning and wash originality off my face, not to worry, foundation, eye pencil and lipstick will soon help me find my place.Β Β
