Poem -

Empty Embrace

Childhood memories of a curious gaze, I keep my distance as I constantly wonder your presence. Through puberty and awkward scenes, matriculation and job hunting things.

Thus on sunrise you my presence demand, a gentle invite with promising joy. With a mixture of my loneliness and your appealing charm, I accept.Though I stay ignorant of your Janus-faced reflection and the alarms throughout the years, I embrace you with a desolate heart.

I become frustrated with your guarded walls as I continue to give you nothing but a reflection of my heart.I forgive your partitioning silence as you return my empty shell of affection.Β

I admire your effort, with the still silence you have treated me, I realize that I cannot give what is not mine to keep.

Alas, a life lesson I learn this steep.
