Soilder who never came home

Soilder who never came home

I want to be a soldier mum
Said to me my brave son
I want to serve my country proud
Said my son nice and loud
Off he went in his green and beige
Parts of the world all in a rage
Fighting and arguing ruining the place
All arguing about each other's race
I was so proud of the man you become
Not just a soldier my hero son
That fatefully day ,
Five years ago ,
a knock at my door
What do I do ?
The news id be dreading
And didn't want to hear
My darling son who I held so dear
Thoughts have gone round my head
The ifs buts and why not me instead
But today I shall not cry
I will hold my head high
The years have been a blur
But today we remember you
As the brave yorkshire soldier
You and many others were

This is one of your best verses, my applause, my vote

My darling son who I held so dear
Thoughts have gone round my head
The ifs buts and why not me instead
But today I shall not cry
I will hold my head high
The years have been a blur
But today we remember you
As the brave yorkshire soldier
You and many others were
