SOILED DOVE

Cowboy boots kicking up the dust in a slow walk

got his arm wrapped around

a special woman with an hourglass figure.

She looks out of place

like a jeweled movie star on an old cowboy set.

She likes them rugged and tough

but after a night with her she’ll make him worn.

Riding a bronco horse she is compared to

for the lucky few who had her.

She’s never been in love but sure likes sex

and they don’t get much prettier than her.

I stopped in a bar and saw her alone

asked her what a pretty woman like her is drinkin’

and she smiled cause she heard that line before.

I almost felt like an idiot

but somehow she made me feel all right.

I asked her if she was married.

I asked her if she had kids.

She stared at me long and hard, then

threw her drink in my face.

I just froze for a second as she walked off.

The bartender said:

you asked her if she was married, didn’t ya?

I just nodded my head.

That gal has been tryin’ to find a husband

that would fit the shoes of her ex.

Your lucky you didn’t sleep with her

cause in the morning you’d be bangin’ your head

lost and in love with ‘er.

Every man I knew that had ‘er

eventually jumped off the Rhino Cliff.

Consider yourself lucky

and find yourself a good Christian woman.

I don’t think that woman will ever find God

she’s quickly become a soiled dove.

I scratched my head

and thought about what the man had said.

When I awoke from this dream

my soiled dove had left me for another man.
