Something happened

Something happened

Sometimes I want to scream at the top of my lungs
“Something bad happened to me”
Sometimes I want to rip open the wound for everyone to see
To acknowledge it, validate it
It happened and it happened to me.

Sometimes I want to tell a stranger
Sometimes I want to tell my loved ones I’m not actually as okay about it as I seem
Sometimes I want to tell them that actually it is a big deal
That what happened,
Shouldn’t have ever happened to me.

Sometimes my crude and comedic character hides vulnerability,
Sometimes talking so openly about sex makes me seem promiscuous and daring.
Sometimes I want someone to see past that, to see deeper
Not in humour but out of caring
And see that something happened to me.

Being Me

5 stars... Can I really only give 5 stars?  But I want to give more!  This poem is truly heart breaking.

Sometimes I want to rip open the wound for everyone to see

To acknowledge it, validate it

It happened and it happened to me.

I can relate to those words. Sadly, I think your poem will be relatable to a lot of people.

This is another stellar write from you, Nixxi x
