Something in the Air Maybe

Something in the Air Maybe

I don’t know what made me think
of you today ..
Maybe it was something about
the way those first few raindrops
made patterns on the pavement
as they fell ..
Or maybe, they just reminded me
of your tears ..
Which unlike the scent of wild figs
hung in the air for days
and sweetly so, the day we parted ..
And after all,
it has been almost three whole
seasons now ..
But hey, who’s counting
whatever the case might be, I sense
there is something in the air maybe ..

Gosh Neville, this is so elegantly penned. Three seasons is not long at all, I could feel the sadness,it tinged the air around me as I read on. Those moments when we can sense them so strongly you have captured perfectly, but also the emotion that comes with it. Beautifully melancholy write of the effect the physical absence of a loved one can have and that spiritual connection that won’t leave. For they are with us always. Even when we fear all we feel is empty space in life

such a moving write. Hugs xx

I would be telling fibs if I was to suggest that I aint quite partial to them there hugs .. in fact, they are incredibly addictive ... maybe I should try & pen something of a real tear jerker & see what happens ........................... xx

Gosh Neville I would drown in tears if you did. I cry at adverts for charity, and you do vividly paint with words. So I would be like a sinking ship out in a sea of sadness x

Oh wow Neville that’s a huge share. I would love to give you feedback on your chapter. If you are serious PM me and I will send you my email address. But only if you reeeeaaally want to. Completely understand if you have second thoughts. A book is a treasured possession before it goes to publishing. But I am truly honoured for being considered :) x

Very relatable poem, it's very "I" opening seeing how all our senses can trigger feelings of missing someone right down to even variables we cannot control such as weather, scent, visuals, or like you suggested here the air. Superb poetry as always Neville~ Rob

Being Me

This poem is full of wistful melancholy, (is there such a thing?) I see a mind opening itself to memories while running a finger along a hand rail of outside stairs, and of cobbled streets. That is the image I get from reading this. A beautiful melancholic poem. Your poetry is always a delight to read x
