Something Wars: I Call it Spirit

Something yearns darkness; and something cries, Mercy. It’s

The sin I do; and it’s the life I grudge; and what I do: I will

Not to; and what I want: I fail to do. What this war: a spirit

Soul; and what is life: a torch and scroll; but oh the joy; and

Oh the pain; and oh the Sun; and oh the rain. I’m falling

Love: my Father’s heart; and Mother’s tear, the breast of

Sparks; and dark or grey; or white or brown; or black or tan:

The world would frown. My dearest Lord, enflame the voice;

And dear the Ghost, to pledge the hoist; for cultic life, a

Spoken grain: the width of God: a mental flame; and deep

The wound, a praying Rock: a Garden cry: a hair to lock; and

Prophet-soul, the grief of God: a passion bold, a path to trod;

And something yearns; and something dies; and something

Wails: a demon’s cry.
