Poem -

Somewhere Between

They didn't teach loneliness in
school
Preferring such things as team
work, play
Though, somewhere through the
dusty day
It might offer up a tiny glimpse

To digest
Just for an instant,
before we tribal kids would
Turn away

They didn't teach illness in school
Preferring of course
The thundering beat
Of beauty, popularity, success,
Words like...elite...

So outcast and loner
Were never words to me
Not ever till...that...suicide
When I was seventeen

And then... the school world
Was over
The make believe
Rubbed out
I learned the word trauma
And I felt that word shout...
From every street corner
I taught myself after that

I learned that shadows
Are silent
And that hearts can't
Be seen, that
We are all empty spaces
A soul somewhere
Between, and that
We break... so easily

Oh Marion this reaches into the depths Of my heart and soul. I feel every word so perfectly woven. It brings to light the true sense of darkness that cuts the spirit of one so young, when faced with the grim reality life can deliver. Absolutely love this write my friend. Thank you ๐Ÿ’–๐Ÿ’–๐Ÿ’–๐Ÿ’–
