Song of the Cathedral

Song,
Why has thou forsaken this cathedral hall?
Where once the harp and lyre were plucked
Now Silence this place haunts.
Silence, with his deafening scream
The summons ignored tears.
Close your ears against the Silence
For he and Fear reign here.
Song,
What crime did these hands commit
That forced you run and hide?
Was it greed? Was it lust?
Was it wrath? Was it pride?
In my traitorous unconscious
Did I will on you this fate?
That eerie Silence
Your golden throne might take?
Song,
When will you set foot in this cathedral hall again?
Will you wander in the wilderness for one year?
Two years? Ten?
Silence will have sired sons
More powerful and deafening than he,
And Fear, his deathless companion, will
His right hand forever be.
Song,
Return and resurrect this wilting, lifeless place.
With your greatest, symphonic sword
The Silence you must face.
And Fear will flutter frantically
When his master's war is lost,
If you, sweet Song, would but return
To this cathedral hall.
