Song of The Immigrant

Eyes full of tears behold my new home-- at last
Iโm burning my ship, turning away from myย past
strong, unyielding... standing up against the sea
knowing that no one's ever coming over here
just to look for someone like me,
yet, I have no fear, listening to the sound of the river
flowing before me like a comforter,
and the deep green forest wind
is coming up the valley floor.
Purple mountains majestyย kisses me with inspiration
lighting flames of faith quickening my steps into motion
liberation freedom; singing sacred songsย for me so sweet
but leaving empty places in between; only I canย complete

HI Christopher This is a great poemย
The topic you choose to write about is a sad one,
but here in your poem he has hope
ย These refugees have to flee their homelandsย
for various reasons never knowing if the will survive even
You write from the thoughtsย of one of them
of what hes sees of this new land ย the beauty around him
his feelings of freedom andย new beginnings to live his life anew ( just my thoughts )
I felt every word you wrote here so well written
my respect ย Warmest wishes ย Debsย
