Song on The Brain

A song comes in my head
from out of the blue
like a dream, suddenly remembered
and it speaks to me, repeating
words and melody of regret and longing
'How Much I Feel,' by Ambrosia
haven't heard it for such a long time
'...got a family now
for years, we've been going strong...
I live for your loving....that's how much...
that's how much'
missing a love so pure
haunted by a bitter-sweet memory
wanting it all back again
though time and circumstances
align against me

Hi Chris, lovely write. Life is sure filled with sweet and sour memories but for a reason I guess. Warm regards. Cheers.
thank you so much, Cleo....I really do appreciate your comment with this poem, I tried something a bit different, with this one, trying to capture a tone and how music and almost instantly affect someone, pull them into the narrative of the song....thanks for the feedback, cheers doc
Ah yes, Chris, that song will bring happiness or tears no matter how long ago, and, there is always the song that gets stuck in our head and not go away :-). Enjoyed this write very much and the highs and lows of a song :-)
Bee, how the heck are u? yes, glad you enjoyed the read, man; some poems will connect with people, some won't glad you liked....cheers mate, and thanks for commenting
Christopher this is definitely a very relatable write and would think more would have commented. What I like is the realism in this or maybe it is how I am and I am very serious about music. I get lost in the words and the tune only to relate it to my life which good music has a way of doing that to people or it beings up memories as you stated from a different time in your life. Awesome write brother, will talk later.
hey, thanks, Devon, comments are good, but that's not why I write, glad you found it relatable, though...been so tired lately busy season for me....hey, what did you think of the season finale of Game of Thrones? No spoilers but that exceeded all expectations; especially the first twenty minutes; love the violin music as well....cheers, D, keep pumping out the good writes; I'm reading them, will start commenting when I get some rest... peace
