Soulmate

I see you. I see right through you. You smile but with your eyes you seduce me. You know exactly what you are doing. There is no motive. It’s a simple fact. I’m as much under your skin as you are under mine. You don’t understand it. I’m not what you pictured for yourself. But you feel me none the less. Right there beneath the surface. Like an itch that you just can’t scratch.

It’s uncomfortable. But somehow you aren’t comfortable without it either. We are each other’s destiny. You fight it and I embrace it. Being near you is the only place I have ever really felt at home. Maybe in this life it wasn’t meant to be. But I’ve had you. You’ve had me. Many times before. Many lifetimes before. And I’ll have you again. Not this way, not the itch that can’t be scratched. Not the uncomfortable tension that can’t be explained. 

We will be satiated like a full belly after the perfect meal. Calm. Peaceful. Content. In each other’s arms. And I will count the moments, the seconds through all eternity for our souls to unite once more.

Until then, I will return your smile. Innocent enough. But look into my eyes and my soul will send you a message. It will say you are mine and I am yours. If not today, one lifetime not too far away.
