Where's My Prince?

Once upon a time there lived a girl
Whose dreams made up a fantasy world
Where prince charming was waiting on bended knee
And he’d take her away to live happily.
They would dance in a haze of romantic bliss
And every night would end with a kiss
His arms around her, her heart in his hands
A life so precious it exceeded demands.
But our princess was in for a terrible fate
No prince charming came to her gate
Oh, there were callers, in fact quite a few
But she sent them all packing and bid them adieu.
The one she longed for, she’d know when she saw
And so she wished upon every star.
But wishes and dreams, well, they don’t come true.
I hate to be the one to spring it on you.
Our dear princess simply waited too long
And now all the good, solid, princes are gone
No glass slipper will come her way
No fairy god mother will make it okay.
The truth is no one lives happily it seems
And prince charmings only exist in our dreams
If you find someone who makes you smile
The best you can do is enjoy them a while.
THE END

Hi
Debbie Kennedy
Good write, thanks for sharing, my applause

So glad you enjoyed it - thank you for the encouragement!
well done, Debbie, the tone gives my senses the sensation of getting slammed by a giant wave you see coming from the corner of my eye, it kinda stings a lot more than you figured it would when it finally hits you and takes you down, but isn't that what a big wave does, if you just stand in one spot and just watch it? I like the write a lot, don't get me wrong; I honestly would not read it if I didn't, and I don't believe every poem should have a happy ending; that would not be honest and real, I suppose....but even Scarlet O'Hara said, "Tomorrow is another day" no? Cheers, Debbie, forgive my rambling, I truly enjoyed reading your poem

So glad you like it - the point isn't a sad ending, but reality that life isn't a fairy tale and love isn't always magical and forever. Sometimes it is just about enjoying the time you have and not setting the expectations too high. A life lesson learned by a former Cinderella...lol
Chris, read Do's and Don'ts - I think you'll like it...
I will
