SOUND THE BELL

I know what this is
You are not fooling me this time round
I know the battle that simmers underneath the smiles
It is a battle even if we deny it
You want to beat me
Then laugh about it with your friends
You want to see me lose so you can be on top alone

I will not fight you my dear
I have no time to waste
No energy for that
But I will do my best
That is how i win all my battles
Not a competition with anyone but myself
A  desire to do my best and not to beat the best
Your standard is too low for me to waste energy on

So sound the bell and let the battle begin
This has nothing to do with the past
It has everything to do with the future
I desire to be in battle with my shortfalls
To harness my strengths till I am proud of what I have become
And if I emerge the best, so be it
But it will not be because of you
It will be because of me.
