Space Betwixt The Fears

Space Betwixt The Fears

So Branson finally got a shot off into space,
get ready folks, get belted for the Star Trek Skylark;
you can see the Earth down there or over here,
where my house burnt down with dodgy electrical gear.

The Mercury's rising, the moon is surprising,
any faults in my system, I am just disguising,
my ejection seat is ready, if captain holds steady,
maybe a parachute or such, won't be necessary.

You can't help thinking about the pioneers of the past,
and how long that spaceship shield will really last,
it looks like catch 22 - we're going to the stars, what?
part of our destiny isn't it - whether we like it or not.

I don't want too much excitement, it's enough for me,
however, I'm taking out a contraceptive insurance policy.
