Speed helps me breathe

Speed helps me breathe

Ash peppers the air
Taps shatter my feet
Thud my heart
As it hovers through the traffic
Like an eagle surveying the coast
Of a mercantile life
Ships reflecting the sun
Tribal grunts spear my memory
Spear the dense waters in instrumental waves
To catch the fish of youth
To bite the pull of the fast lane
