SPEED INGLORIOUS
Above the days inescapable
Upon clouds of righteous endeavor
Days tumble to the timing of winged prayer
Where daydreams speed their way ingloriously
From coastline to stately precipices
Above these, the moments at jet speed
I find myself joined by thoughts
Of the miscalculated and misunderstood
Where daydreams speed their way ingloriously
Into the backstreets of being high above
In these, the moments so quickly windowed
So quickly ungrateful, so speedily fueled
So grossly profound, that time ceases its deception
And the ballet of movement continues
Its struggle to grow beyond the light
My mind begins to dance to that ballet unfettered
Far within the minds eye of speed
A silhouette of universal endeavor
Where only the brave dare to roll the dice
And perchance, find that they have safely arrived
Speed inglorious, the untethered notorious
Upon clouds of righteous endeavor
I turn into the curve, instead of out of it
And find that I have arrived in a stately fashion
Far before death and much sooner than royalties feathers...
