Spherical
an attempt to put a deeply spiritual experience in words (both describing it and the emotions (in italics))

I stare gratefully at the candle’s flame
and surrender my thoughts
time turns spherical,
growing out of line all in blue I am
borne
such blue
space
My -here-
>missing,
for I no longer know│
where to place a second deep into my heart
a joy growsturning words
wild, spreading
roots into space that becomes
sphere, morphing heart to larger than world.
I fall upwards, all ways, looking down,
free falling, and yet I know spiralling
towards an event horizontears untold before
– time becomes
irrelevant, almost.
(yes,?I did call out)
to beyond the divide [ ], for
vines of [non-light] glide in
>into the sphere<
to comfort me with trust
and joining−with my skin.
I am safe as never before
in their presence
nowhere…
I am
alive…more and more tears
intense release
Voiceless symbols of a new lease
(akin) to time answer
a prayer I never knew existed angel wings
spread out around my ¿body
growing an >altar^
for my self to roam
free range in my own
space
now< turningslowly returning
sequential again into my -here-
Time is limitless here in awe I will remember

Awesome work :)
Sorry for the late response, thank you - it was hard work to put the experience in words, as well as living through the moment
You're welcome :)
Wow John sounds like either a truly wonderful meditation session or an NDE...regardless you have written about it so skillfully I was right in the moment my friend x
Actually, it is a compilation of several experiences in the direct neighbourhood of statues of the Virgin Mary (Chartres, Manosque (the pic), le Puy-en-Velay cathedral, Saint Gervazy (all in France, Black Madonna's) and in Eersel (The Netherlands). I also used punctuation marks deliberately (a trick I picked up from e.e. cummings on whose poetry I wrote my doctorate thesis) to emphasize certain points. It was hard work (both recuperating from the tears and the writing). Glad it came across. I almost always break down if the statue is a strong, forceful one - too much shit in the past... I suppose I have cried out most of it, now😂. Thank you for your support...
Don't worry, it was never no NDE - I am not done exploring this Life
No you are not John, nor are you done writing superb poetry! Great read!
Glad it comes across, I was very much afraid the moments could never be put in understandable words... It was not a drill
I read this a while back and now revisiting to give it the respect it deserves John.
Yes, it reads like a dream and a deep one at that, but, there is something subliminal quality to your poem as well.
And darn what a rush it is.
Great writing throughout and full honours and thank you for putting it into uniquely crafted words.
Thank you, it was hard work finding words for such profound experiences at several shrines/statues of Mary (not being Catholic). I am deeply grateful it comes across🙏
Lovely Write, Great job John. Cheers.
Thank you. I never expected any of it coming across 😇
