Spilt

Eat your words since you’re starving for attention
Wield them carefully, don’t use them as a weapon
Words alone don’t hurt, words alone can’t heal
What matters in the end is how you make people feel
Spilling from your mouth
Spoiled down they rain
Hurtful their intent
What do you hope to gain
Acid to my ears
Toxic to my brain
You can mop them up, but the stain will still remain
Cut them with your sharp tongue
Choke on the shards of my broken heart
Truth lies in the pauses; little bits and parts
Said and then retracted
Forever they are spilt
Splattered across my psyche
Yours becomes my guilt

In fact words can destroy. Slander is against the law for that reason. Slander sometimes makes people abusive and makes even government officials lawless. Words cause justice to die. The death of justice as a result of slanderous peoples words can be catasrophically ruthless and can destroy the most innocent of people while the guilty are enabled to run rampid ruthless and free without consequence. Words destroy. And if people could be petitioned with words of reason then words could also heal in many many different life experiences.
I appreciate both your feedback. Â I think we've all had experience where something was said that sticks with you, be it good or bad. Â Words have power and like a bullet cannot be recalled once they've been said. Â I wrote it more as a reminder/warning that even though they float on the air, intangible, they can be crushing and hurtful, defining how you relate with others.
Thank you!
