Spring Awakens

Spring Awakens

I wander down the quiet paths,
With happy thoughts of Spring.
And peek into each dusky nook,
Where many tiny flowers cling.

In this season jack in the pulpit,
Dons his frock of brown and green.
And tells his band of wood folk,
How to all live a life serene.

The clear white petals of bloodroot,
Shine from its green-land bower.
Clever people used to make perfume,
From the roots of this perfect flower.

And the violet, shy and retiring,
Lifts its dainty little head.
On the banks of a sparkling pool,
In its lovely scented bed.

The frail white petals of anemone,
Do their best to catch my eye.
Since they're dressed so modestly,
One could easily pass them by.

And hepatica, with its new Spring dress,
In sweet lavenders delicate hue.
Displays with understandable pride,
The work Mother Nature can do.

The wonder of the great outdoors,
Brings peace and calm and rest.
And those close to quiet woods,
Are so surely greatly blessed.

Dedicated to Sue and Ruth who I met today 15/04/2021 at 14.20 P.M by
The Dutch Gardens near St Fagan's Enchanted Castle.
This is your poem now to keep and share with other like-minded good people.
I wish you both and the loved ones around each of you, the good and great virtue's
that this life can graciously and happily bestow.
And may God Bless and Keep each of you.

Rob many thanks for your superb comments and most generous too.
Truth be told I deleted the other version and rewrote and rejigged a few things also, poetry thankfully is never and mercifully isn't be a dry cement process when looking back on previous writings.
Thanks again Rob and back later tonight to put up a dark poem or two and to read more of yours as well.
Hang in there, thanks again and I wish you well.

Wow Shaun. What an amazing imagery you have created with such descriptive words and verse about nature and particular flowers. I just loved it all! It's so summery and beautiful. Just what we need to read for longer warm days to come and to put a smile on our faces. Sssoo pinned perfection! Px

Pratibha, you say it so upliftingly well and I thank you for that.
And now every day it becomes lighter and warmer and soon the clocks go forward a week today so more time in the evening to potter about and even to write a little poem or two bathed in the gentle warmth of a setting sun and then summer arrives.
Can't wait for that, thanks again Pratibha and wish you and your family well.
