The Starchild

The Starchild
By Jude kyrie
I met her in the city park
She was sitting on the grass.
About her a circle of animals
Rabbits, squirrels a cat
and a stray dog.
All seeming enraptured
by her calmness.
She was talking with them.
They had no fear of her
such was her countenance
For some reason
perhaps because I too was
lost and in need of some peace.
I sat with her like the animals
She said she was a starchild once
Long ago and far away
She had lived at the
very edge of the universe.
In this place the air was pure
only breathed by the starchildren.
No war or pain existed just love.
Its light rained like graces of heaven,
washing all who lived in its glow.
She said the sky was the roof for mortals
but also the floor of eternity.
Where such wonders existed,
that we would always be happy
discovering forever.
She said she would
return there one day
to live within these wonders
see the lovely light
and become a Starchild once more.
She does not come to the park anymore
and I miss her.
But I have no doubts
that I will see her again
In the magical light
together as Starchildren
