Steady Walkin

Rather unflappable
 More than unshakeable
Speak to the easy in me
 Down this one way street
 And talk with the pebbles
 On a cobblestone path
Count them as I move along
 1,2,3,4
 I smile at the lamppost
 Filling the ditches
 With a soft glowing light
 The wind is harsh
 It moves the night

 Greatful for the momentum
 As she carries
 Leaves
 She winds her way
 Through me
 Inside me
 Pushing me to somewhere
On this road to no where
 It's a lonely walk
 No one to talk
To aside from the man on the corner
 With a sign
 That beckons abundance
But his feet take him no where
 His voice, silent
 Such sad eyes
 And I wonder if he
 Converses with the
 Cobblestones
 Or the lamplight
 Filtering through
 The trenches

 He glances in my direction
and I catch the corner of his sad eye
 He compliments my beauty
and I wonder is it just alchemy?
An exchange given meaning only by the tone
A dollar here, a dollar there
 to get to where?
 I only have a 20
and I walk by with a sigh.
 Is it right?
 Is it wrong?
 To deny..

 I walk on
 Cocooned in my mind
 alone with my thoughts
count them as I move along
 1,2,3,4
My gaze returns to my footsteps
 continuing this journey
 to the somewhere
 that is nowehere
 maybe eternity.
 maybe infinity
 Or maybe just to BE
 ME
