Steel Tower

Steel Tower

Tall it stands, high above the industrial landscape;
Strewn like an elephant's graveyard.
Yet it holds a certain majesty all its own.
It rests on a corrugated throne.
And stands proud above all the rest.
Putting the sturdiest girder to the test
A revolution disappeared; a ghost of progression
All that is left is this rusty impression
To most ugly and misfit
The poet sees a different place
But neither can industry's hardship erase.
Time diminished from the physical.
The future now lies in the small
Micro industrial revolution abounds
As scientists strive to break new grounds
Maybe this lone tower can serve
To remind us of the path taken
Or the path yet to be found
