STOLEN LOVER

I took that starving kiss
fed it on your hungry lips
rolled from the fields
as our harvest revealed
a spiteful winters truth
discovered beneath a protected grief
this tiny pale palm
crushed against such solid harm
rustedΒ  in flakes
in metal scales

we rolled down into your dress
whiskey soaked our bloody breast
blue dangling earrings
tumbled into the cool clay
broken hearted flowers
tried to make you stay
and on that crumbling playful
streams edge
a serious face
made me eat the stolen pledge

misty morn at 4 am
alone on the run
heavens placed a bounty on the pitiful head
cold harbours
lay vacant
across the grassy green plains
marble and granite
live amongst created carved fame

these nails that bleed
on tips of painted fingers
tearing a soul
tearing everyplace it lingers

that starved kiss
on fragrant lost lips

we rolled the dawn into your dress
but night stole our rest
