Stolen Persons!

Waves and waves of yesterday's
cloud and crowd up memory space
Mind of library shelves are packed
up, down, side to side over stacked
Happenings flattened out of shape
vacuum packed storage memory rape
Filtered to brain's dustbin
yes here's room for lots to fit in
Faces shadowed to strange unknown
sadly all just the same faceless clone
In the sea of all have ever been
disappearing in insanity and between
A lifeboat holds the person all know
though help stuck in stagnant reverse flow
Splintered thoughts shoot here and there
grab one fast as today's unreachable doesn't care
More and more lost to forget all sea
just dementia shark to eat last shreds of memory
Now in the moment the only present is
gone instantly to all forgotten never will miss
Just a body shell left on the beach
but the real person frantically waving
forever lost and out of everyone's reach
'Dementia'

Warmest wishes. Take care.

Thankyou Richard this write came to me today. The subject of dementia is all around and I think a worry for all :) x
My mother-in-law suffers from dementia so this piece struck a cord with me.
Thank you for posting this dramatic work highlighting a serious problem, to hopefully be tackled by medical research as soon as possible. An ageing population means we have to face the consequences of dementia more often !
Warmest wishes to you. xox
Hello Wendy...
Great awareness write about a subject many can only view from the outside...
The person who is directly affected can't remember the people they have loved briefly or for years...
Along with the memories that once was so very clear...
Like many things we would love to cure...
Not just remission though it's a positive step, but to actually come up with a cure, so it can no longer cause harm...
Make it history once and for all...
Thank you for sharing...
Hugs...
