Keep pushing

I wonder why people ask me how come I never smile,Â
What’s there to smile about when my world the world around me is crashing down,
Washed up like a wave and I’m preparing to drown,Â
Having no home to run to so I just move on from town to town,Â
That may sound sad to you but this story’s only starting now,Â
Reckless abandonment of a father who never loved his son,Â
Raised by a single mother that did what had to be done,Â
Bills stacking up like bodies I never knew what she went through,Â
I tried to help her out but I was too young really what could I do,Â
She told me to focus on my education and you just might make it boy,Â
Wanted a father figure but he’d rather play with my feelings like a toy,Â
Little did he know this ones defective and wouldn’t follow his path,Â
Put his hands on innocent woman and thought I would take his wrath,Â
Lefts scars that’ll never fade but I kept pushing every single day,Â
Striving to be a better man and expecting nothing to fall in my hands,Â
Now I’m in a good space where the rose grew from a dark place,Â
Often I may look back and think at what I could’ve done different,Â
But after all that misery and suffering my comeback is that I keep living.Â

Aww such an inspiring write of hardship, Dvon, I loved the rythm and speed that makes the poem extremely engaging and enjoyable. The line simplicity of the line structure drew me in lol. Great write. All the Best. The Fish of the Sea.
Thanks Fish of the sea!! I was thinking of a way to send a positive message while telling a compelling story that made me the man I am today. I wanted to give my readers perspective on just because that’s how your life may have started it doesn’t have to end that way.Â
You've got a very loving mother , Dvon, and sure she is proud of you. May the good force be with you all the way! Well penned.
Thanks Mr. Han!! I’m grateful to have had a mother that cared enough to keep me on the right path in life. Your words encourage me to keep writing as well!Â
