storm warning

storm warning

You told me right up front
you would devour me.
that all I would find in you
is pain and anguish.
you warned me
You said
I was a moth
and you were the dancing
flames of a candle.
you told me
not to mistake
your beauty for tenderness.
You whispered run away
I will only bring you ruin.
But I pressed my lips to yours
and in that first kiss
you inhaled my soul.
